The Simpsons dengan hak paten yang cukup lama berada di tangan Vivendi Universal Interactive, kini telah beralih hak untuk EA, yang menjadi pemegang saham terbesar untuk seri The Simpsons. Pihak EA sendiri mengadakan kompromi yang cukup lama dengan Twentieth Century Fox Television dan Gracie Film. Menurut kabar, lisensi The Simpsons akan disiapkan untuk next gen console dalam format game.
