Samsung India has launched a new solar-powered enabled Solar Guru (Guru E1107) GSM based-network phone exclusively in India. The low-end Solar Guru will hit the open market in next fifteen days at a price point of Rs 2,799. Apart from solar charging, it has a display size of 1.52-inch, 1MB memory and 800mAh battery.

Sunil Dutt, Country Head, Mobile Business, Samsung India, said, "As of now we are importing Solar Guru from Korea. However, we will soon start the production locally at Noida factory, which has the capacity to produce one million phones in a month. We are planning to position the product in rural areas, and targeting those users who have less talking hours, and face power supply problems. The phone has a dual option of solar and electronic charging as well."

The Samsung Solar Guru (Samsung Guru 1107) is priced at Rs. 2799. Following its introduction in India, the Solar Guru will be launched in various markets including Europe, Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia, and Latin America in June 2009.

What i feel is that this handset may get corrupted and useless soon because the harmful rays can either burn up the screen, along with the internal parts also getting problematic, unless the hardware is real solid and made of something like aluminium or steel but at this budget price i dont think this is nothing other than a fibre or plastic mobile phone. The handset offers you with FM radio, MP3 ring tones, embedded games and a powerful torch light.
